Warranty & Care

One-Year Limited Warranty on Doors & Porch Swings

At Doorplace USA, every door and porch swing is built by hand and inspected before it leaves our shop. This page explains how our 1-Year Limited Warranty works and how to care for your product so it looks great for years to come.

One-Year Limited Warranty

Doorplace USA provides a 1-Year Limited Warranty on eligible doors and porch swings that are finished and assembled by Doorplace USA and installed in a suitable location.

This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that affect the normal structural performance or basic function of the product for one (1) year from the date of delivery.

What’s Covered

  • Doors: significant structural defects such as excessive warping (more than approx. 1/4" over 8 ft), severe splitting, or major joint separation that prevents the door from operating normally.
  • Porch Swings: structural defects in the swing frame that affect normal sitting or safe use when installed correctly and within normal weight limits.
  • Hardware Function: track rollers, hinges, latches, and swing hanging hardware that fail under normal residential use.

At our discretion, we may repair, replace, or rebuild affected components to restore normal function.

What’s Not Covered

Because wood and metal are natural materials, some variations and changes over time are normal. The warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear, minor dings, scratches, or color variation.
  • Changes caused by improper installation, building movement, or an out-of-square wall, opening, or frame.
  • Products installed in locations with extreme moisture, direct water exposure, or full weather exposure without proper overhang or protection.
  • Products that have been altered, cut, trimmed, re-finished, or repainted after delivery by others.
  • Unfinished or primed-only products that were not sealed on all sides soon after delivery.
  • Hairline surface checking or small seasonal movement typical of real wood.

Your Responsibilities

  • Inspect on Delivery: open and inspect your order as soon as it arrives. Report any shipping damage within 2 business days so we can assist with a freight claim.
  • Check Before Installation: verify sizes, swing direction, and general condition before installing. We are not responsible for installer labor or trip charges.
  • Use Proper Installation: doors and swings must be mounted into appropriate structure using suitable hardware rated for the application.
  • Follow Care Instructions: especially for exterior or covered-porch locations, finishes need basic care and maintenance over time.

Care Instructions – Wood Doors & Porch Swings

Interior Doors & Indoor Use

  • Dust with a soft cloth and clean with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner as needed.
  • Avoid direct water contact or steam directly on the door surface.
  • Do not hang or pull heavy objects from the door that could twist or rack it.

Porch Swings & Covered Outdoor Use

  • Install swings under a covered porch or structure whenever possible.
  • Avoid standing water or long-term direct contact with wet cushions.
  • Plan to re-coat the clear outdoor finish every 1–2 years (or as needed) depending on sun and weather exposure.
  • If you pressure wash nearby surfaces, protect the swing from high-pressure spray and harsh chemicals.

Unfinished or Customer-Finished Products

  • Unfinished doors or swings should be sealed on all six sides (front, back, top, bottom, and both edges) as soon as possible after delivery.
  • Use a quality stain and clear topcoat rated for the environment (interior or exterior) and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Because Doorplace USA did not complete the finishing, unfinished products are not covered against warping, splitting, or finish failure.

Hardware & Swing Hanging Care

  • Periodically tighten visible screws, bolts, and fasteners.
  • For porch swings, inspect the hanging hardware, chains, and/or ropes every few months and replace anything that looks worn, rusted, or damaged.
  • Use only hardware rated for the expected weight and make sure mounting points are into solid framing, beams, or a properly built swing stand.
  • A small amount of dry lubricant on rollers or hinges can help keep them operating smoothly.
